GREGORY S. NICKERSONPrior to forming The Washington Tax Group, Mr. Nickerson served as Tax Counsel to Chairman Thomas (R-CA) on the Committee on Ways and Means from 2001 to February 2005. He also served as Staff Director to Chairman McCrery (R-LA) on the Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures from 2004 to February 2005.

While working for the Ways and Means Committee, Mr. Nickerson had primary responsibility for the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004, the most significant business tax reform legislation enacted in the past twenty years. Mr. Nickerson also was lead tax staff on the dividend and capital gains rate cuts and other business incentives in the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003. His primary areas of jurisdiction for the Committee included corporate transactions, international taxation, energy taxation, depreciation, alternative minimum tax, financial products, tax shelters, research and development, business tax credits, and insurance taxation.
Mr. Nickerson served on the Delegate and Caucus Team at the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York and worked as an attorney advisor to the National Republican Senatorial Committee during the 2004 and 2006 elections.
Prior to joining the Committee on Ways and Means, Mr. Nickerson spent two years as the counsel for the National Foreign Trade Council working closely with NFTC's 450 multinational corporations, the Department of Treasury, the United States Trade Representative and Congress on international tax and trade legislation and agreements. Prior to that, Mr. Nickerson spent seven years as a trial attorney for the Department of Justice, Tax Division and the Internal Revenue Service.
Mr. Nickerson received his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the New England School of Law, and attended the New York University LL.M. in Taxation program.
NOUSHIN JAHANIANPrior to joining The Washington Tax Group, Ms. Jahanian served as Policy Director and Chief Counsel to Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), a member of Senate Democratic Leadership.
During her seven years with Senator Stabenow, Ms. Jahanian worked extensively on legislation pending before the Finance, Budget, Banking, Agriculture, and Energy and Natural Resources Committees. She was responsible for developing and managing the Senator's legislative agenda with an emphasis on tax, energy and judiciary issues. She also supervised the Senator Stabenow's 12-person legislative staff and managed the Senator's Senate Finance Committee legislative priorities including the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 and the Housing and the Economic Recovery Act of 2008. During her tenure with Senator Stabenow, Ms. Jahanian also served as Legislative Counsel and Legislative Director and was responsible for developing and strengthening relationships with both Democratic and Republican Senate offices.
Prior to working for Senator Stabenow, Ms. Jahanian worked for Minority Leader Tom Daschle on the Senate Democratic Policy Committee. As a policy advisor, Ms. Jahanian areas of responsibility and expertise included energy, transportation, environment and agriculture.
Ms. Jahanian also worked as a Senior Counsel for Legislative Affairs for the American Association for Justice in Washington D.C. Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Ms. Jahanian worked as a litigation attorney at Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky in Washington D.C.
Ms. Jahanian received her B.A., cum laude, in Political Science from Duke University and her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
Jan Fowler Prior to joining The Washington Tax Group, Ms. Fowler served as Legislative Assistant to Senator George V. Voinovich (R-OH) and Congressman Jim McCrery (R-LA).
During her 6 years on Capitol Hill, Ms. Fowler worked extensively on legislation pending before the Finance, Budget, Banking, Appropriations, Environment & Public Works, and the Homeland Security & Government Affairs Committees. She was responsible for developing and implementing Senator Voinovich's legislative agenda in the areas of tax, budget, insurance, pensions and banking with an emphasis on fiscal responsibility. In the 110th Congress, she was responsible for passage of key legislation within the Senator's agenda, which included passage of The Mortgage Debt Relief Act of 2007 and the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008.
Prior to working for Senator Voinovich, Ms. Fowler worked for Congressman Jim McCrery during his tenure as the Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Committee. Ms. Fowler's areas of responsibility included tax, budget, small business and pension matters.
Before her work as a Congressional staffer, Ms. Fowler also worked as a member of the Federal Public Policy team at the National Federation of Independent Business, the largest small business advocacy in the United States representing 350,000 small business owners in Washington.
Ms. Fowler received B.A., in English and Political Science from Southern Methodist University.
